A relatively small group but genuinely engaged Filipino Americans gathered last Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Alpharetta Public Library recollecting EDSA People Power I Anniversary. Emotions and passion for Philippine nationalism poured out as the various topics were presented during the commemoration. Presented by the panelists were "The True Message of EDSA People Power I" by Winifredo M. Alfelor, Filipino American Christian Church "A Peaceful Cry For Freedom" by Marilyn Z. Doromal, NaFFAA Region IV "Democracy after EDSA: A Mindanaoan Indigenous Peoples Perspective" by Arjho Turner, Galing Foundation, Inc. “NaFFAA's Commitment to Peaceful, NonViolent Resistance” by Romeo “Romie” Kempis Dela Paz, NaFFAA Florida and “EDSA People Power: The Past, Present and the Future”by Emelita D. Breyer,Ph.D., Emory University followed by a short discussion.

An excerpt "Democracy after EDSA: A Mindanaoan Indigenous Peoples Perspective" by Arjho Turner is now available online. Please visit www.galingfoundation.com and click on "galing update".

Many Thanks to our panelists, guests and to Irene Fields of Alpharetta Public Library, Jim Paredes of APO Hiking Society, Roger Olivares and Roland Roldan.

:-) My name's Roland Roldan, not Ronald hehehe. Congrats to all who went and participated in recollecting EDSA People Power 1 Anniversary. Will celebrate it here in the Philippines this coming Monday. Again. Congratulations! Let us not forget the benefits of that memorable event.

Hello Sir Roldan! Thanks po for the correction. I already told Toni Daya about it. I also corrected the name in this blog. Maraming salamat talaga...the photos you sent to Toni were so amazing!

Hope you will post some EDSA celebration photos for this year. Filipinos need real change in our political system...re-visit and re-live the true spirit and intentions of the people power. Democracy should not be treated like "tele-novela'' played by politicians with different interests and motivation. Nothing still compares to EDSA I, the true PEOPLE POWER in the Philippines history.
